Some people are simply born with an eye for beautiful things. For Maria E. Beck, it started with an elaborate dollhouse, an endless supply of floor plans and architectural sketches, and a childhood spent rearranging just about anything that would sit still long enough. While other little girls were playing house, Maria was busy designing one.

What began as a childhood pastime soon became a lifelong passion. An early introduction to interior design and art history confirmed what she had suspected all along: a love of beautiful spaces wasn't just a passing fancy. It was her calling.

Maria graduated from Texas Tech University in 2001 with a bachelor's degree in Interior Design, emphasizing Architecture. She began her career at the prestigious Dallas firm Vision Design, under renowned designer Dan Nelson, where she honed her eye for architectural detail, exceptional craftsmanship, and the finer points of sophisticated design. Her work included luxury boutique hotels, among them Dallas's iconic Crescent Court Hotel, as well as distinctive commercial interiors and extraordinary private residences around the world.

She later joined the celebrated IBB Design Group, working alongside principal designer Beth Rafferty. It was there that Maria discovered what she loves most about residential design: the people. After all, a beautiful room is one thing, but a beautiful room that tells someone's story? That's where the magic happens.

In 2007, after passing the NCIDQ examination and becoming a Registered Interior Designer with the Texas Board of Architectural Examiners, Maria founded M. E. Beck Design, Inc.

Maria's signature style is a fresh take on traditional design - timeless, thoughtfully layered, and never short on personality. She has a particular affection for beautiful antiques, interesting textiles, unexpected color combinations, and the little details that make a room feel like it couldn't possibly belong to anyone else. Her interiors are elegant without being fussy, collected without feeling precious, and always designed with real life in mind. Because a beautiful home should be lived in, not tiptoed through.

She believes the best interiors strike a balance between old and new, polished and playful, and that a little whimsy is often just what a room needs. Rules have their place, of course, but knowing when to bend them is half the fun.

At the heart of Maria's work is a genuine appreciation for the relationships formed along the way. She approaches each project as a collaboration, taking the time to understand not only her clients' aesthetic preferences, but the lives unfolding within their walls.

When she's not dreaming up beautiful spaces for her clients, Maria can be found at home in San Antonio, Texas, with her husband, Frank, their two children, Alice and James, and their beloved border collie, Banjo.
